Why I Love This Photo

For some reason I was in the middle of the stairwell between the main level and the second floor.

The bride’s father paced back and forth, rubbing his hands together waiting for his daughter to walk down the stairs so he could walk her down the aisle. He hadn’t seen her all dressed up yet.

She waited for instructions in the doorway.

I just love the anticipation in the father’s face, and hands, while his daughter upstairs is unaware of the excitement and nervousness her father is feeling.

I waited until he placed himself in the right spot at the bottom of the staircase so they could be photographed together.

I love that she is directly in the top right and he is directly in the bottom left. In-between the two of them are vertical and horizontal lines in the railings and shadows that make your eye travel from the top to the bottom of the photograph.

And this my friend, is why I love the candid wedding photography approach so much!
